then they wake up later with matching nipple piercings and isabela holding a needle between thumb and forefinger. ‘don’t worry,’ she says. ‘anders made sure everything was clean!’ and neither varric nor hawke speaks to anders for the rest of the week, until he pouts his way back into their good graces. 

‘well, at least it’s better than friendship tattoos,’ hawke admits. 

‘is it?’ varric replies. 

(later requests ‘to play with it’ are all summarily denied. when isabela says it’s a shame no one gets to enjoy the thing even though they know it’s there, varric finally grins and tells her no one is a little presumptuous, and bianca, at least, thanks her for the gift.)
